Looking back from the year 2000 to now, there have been SO many bad fashion trends and mistakes that it was almost impossible to pinpoint just 10. However, I forced myself to select the 10 most atrocious and popular fashion trends of this decade.

While browsing through and you discover you have been or still are a victim of one or more of these fashion DO NOTS, don't be offended! These mistakes can happen to all good people, even for self-proclaimed fashionistas (#2*Cough Cough). Besides, you can always discard your fashion offenders and pretend it all never happened after this day.

So sit back and relax with a bowl of popcorn and get ready to cringe, cry, laugh histerically, gasp and reminisce on the worst fashion trends of the decade!

1. Crocs

Number one is crocs. Oh where oh where to even begin. Let us first recognize that in this day and age of Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, cloning, ipods and self-cleaning robots, creating a fashion-forward shoe should not be so difficult. However, these immensely popular 'shoes' as some would call them, are simply unsightly chunks of rubber with some breathing holes on top.

What is even worse is the image it has projected unto other countires. My French and Asian friends facebooking me with 'Are those Croc things really the latest fashion over there in America?!' to which I responded with 'No. Its a nasty rumor being spread around by fascists hiding out in this country.'

Simply stated: For the sake of this nation's national image and integrity - No More Crocs!

2. Juicy Tracksuits

Juicy Tracksuits are an interesting phenomenon actually. This is how I honestly believe it became popular: A few unlucky women purchased it in thinking of comfort and men noticed. They noticed obviously from staring at the letters on any passerby's butt. The fact that the pants are fairly form fitting and have bold letters jumping off of them, forces people to look. As the male appeal began to grow, the women were just dying to have them. These 'butt' pants were flying off the shelves! What an easy way to grab any man's attention.

Now, focusing on the 'fashion' aspect. These are a major NO. The fact that most women's behinds are not made to be stuffed into some small polyester-spandex pants are just one aspect of why. They are tacky all the way, and no man in search of a classy woman would dare think of you as 'take home to mama material!

3. Ponchos

This one is completely self-explanatory. In what situation would a poncho be deemed acceptable or even warranted?

Hmm, without being a stereotypical a-hole and saying 'rodeo', there are NONE. Wearing a poncho at the beach? NO. Wearing one to an office meeting? NO. Wearing one to a party? NO.

See, there is no such need to wear a poncho. Just say NO!

4. Celebrity Clothing Lines

For this particular fashion offense, I refer to specific individuals. I appreciate some famous celebs who honestly have a love and knowledge of fashion who want to create their own lines. However, these very select few are now accompanied by every celeb in Hollywood.

Its hard to even name a female celebrity who doesn't have a fashion label. Since when did celebrity, model, actress and singer become synonymous with designer?

5. Iconic Nerd Glasses

This is one of the more recent fashion trends I do not understand. If you truly are a nerd/geek and want to display it, can't you just be yourself and sprout off mathematical algorithms and admit to playing dungeons and dragons? Why are random rappers and actors who probably do not interact with these so called 'nerds' sporting the look?

Its just interesting to wonder what kind of statement they are trying to make.

6. Hobo Chic?

In my mind, there is no argument that the word 'hobo' and 'chic' will never fit together because that would be a contradiction or double negative. (As one who almost became an English major, double negatives are THE ultimate NO in academia.) There is nothing chic about fashion that is trying to represent homelessness. For homeless people, their state of financial being is a serious matter. They do not purposefully want to dress ragged and worn. I feel as if this fashion trend is almost a mockery of those who have no other choice but to wear 'hobo fashions.'

7. Jumpsuits

Why oh why? Jumpsuits are for toddles only. Jumpsuits are great for parents of babies or little children because its a one piece that is easy to put on and take off without worrying about matching or oufit-picking. Jumpsuits for everyday women and men? No.

In addition, in the haute couture world, jumpsuits have also sprung up. This is a very miniscule exception. These models are about 6'2" and weigh 115 lbs. Obviously if the cut is chic enough they will maybe be able to pull it off. Are we very skinny giants? NO

8. Ed Hardy

Oh, Christian Audigier. In my opinion, Mr. Audigier is a fine designer. However, tattoo patterns everywhere? Please no. What would it even be called? Biker Chic? Tattoo Couture?

What's even worse is that Ed Hardy is now synonymous with Jon Gosselin, which of course in something no one wants to be associated with!

Leave tattoo art for your skin only please.

9. Platform Flipflops

The platform flip flop popped into US mass culture in the 90's, and unfortunately made it through the 2000's. What is there to say about a large wedge of styrofoam block. (Yes, I know, its not actually styrofoam) Is this a necessary fashion item? Why did this even come about? It makes women look very thick and unflattering. It does not give an illusion of height, which is what women assumed.

Lets hope that we do not see a single Platform flipflop in the coming decade!

10. Tights as Pants

Lets get this straight ladies and ladies: Tights are NOT pants. Leggings are also NOT pants for that matter. Tights and leggings are very fashionable and sexy when worn UNDERNEATH pants, dresses and skirts. Once again ladies, when wearing tights, its best NOT to ask a man's opinion on it. They will always tell you that tights are pants.

When wearing tights as pants, everyone can see everything! For those women who love wearing them despite this 100% fact, then more power to you, but consider this: Why not become a stripper who shows off everything? All men are starring at your *parts* in either scenario, and the only difference is, by being a stripper, you can make TONS of money!

I met up with a friend recently who was complaining that all her law firm allowed her to wear was strict office attire. And due to religious reasons, that means she could only wear pant suits. Her firm consists of 80% men and she is convinced, wearing anything remotely female looking would just make them look down on her. It already didn't help the situation that she is the youngest female member of her law firm.

This got me thinking. I'm very often (for some reason), in conversation with people who think that the way they dress does not say anything about them. I completely disagree. While i do not think it is a statement of fact; what you wear is who you are, i do not think that your true personality and what you select to cloth yourself in are completely mutually exclusive.

But i digress. As usual. Back to my friend. She was asking me for tips on how she can "girl" up her dressing in an office where they seem to want everyone to look like men. In her words exactly:

"i dont want to break the rules sasha. But i don't mind playing around them. I want to still feel pretty lah ;)"

This one is for you Ann-ies :)

1. Wear Makeup

Even if you wear wearing a potato sack, you can still put on some bright eye shadow or some girl lip stick to add some color and definition to your feminine features. Don't pile on the make up to over compensate. Just define your features and pick some neutral colors that blend in. Your objective is to look feminine and intelligent. Not like a raccoon that just rolled out of a bin.

2. Clinch at the waist

Your office might make you wear pant suits, but there is no reason not to show a hint of a figure. Ladies, our greatest assets are our curves. Even if they are covered up, just a hint of them is enough to get people interested. Make sure your pant suits, jackets, tops are well cut. Use funky belts to clinch at the waist to give illusions of a smaller waist.

3. Accessorize

Throw on an awesome pair of earrings. Or a statement necklace. By accessorizing your look, you are screaming to the world "look at me. i'm a girl. and i take pride in the way i look" Trust me ladies. Bosses love people to dress well. You are a representation of your company. When bosses see a well dressed lady, they immediately give her more respect compared to someone who looks like they just walked out of their bedroom.

One caution with this would be to not wear any accessory that is too distracting; such as a long clanking bracelet when you type on your keyboard. Then its no longer fashion. Its a job hazard.

4. Get an awesome haircut

Hair is one of the most sensual parts of a woman. Get an awesome haircut that makes you feel sexy and you will naturally radiate the same feeling to other around you.

5. Wear strong sensual perfume

People very often underestimate the power of the sense of smell. Pick a strong sensual perfume which you associate with power. Make sure the perfume is not over bearing. You do not want your colleges walking around you holding their breath. What you want is undertones of your perfume to hit them. Think about it. You always want to be around something that smells real good don't you? That's how your boss will feel as well. :)

Quick Fixes - 5 things under 5 mins

I was driving with a friend in the car the other day and he looks at my leg and says "why so dry?" and i blush.

Ever heard the expression:

Well i know she wasn't exactly talking about Beauty or Fashion. But the core message still applies to almost everything. :)

So here is a list of 5 things that can be done under 5 mins (actually much, much less than 5 mins) that will make all the difference to your body if you do them.

1. Moisturize your skin

When you jump out of the shower, slather on some moisturizer. We normally only think of moisturizing our face but forget about the rest of our body. By putting on some lotion right after a shower, the water in your skin is sealed in giving it a double moisture effect :)

Time taken : Less than 2 mins

2. Apply some baby oil to your hair

The world often wonders why Indians have such thick glossy hair. No we don't go for Repair Treatment. We just love our oil. Forget extensive Saloon Treatment Repairs, just apply some baby oil or olive oil to your hair on the weekend. Leave it on for less than an hour to completely soak and then wash off.

Make sure you don't oil your scalp too heavily though. You don't need the extra oil on your scalp but your hair itself doesn't secrete oil like your scalp does so make sure you give it some love :)

Time taken : Squirt, rub in palms and apply. Less then 1 min (but leave in and wash off approx: an hour)

3. Exfoliate your lips

Use a gentle cloth and rub your lips to effectively exfoliate the dead skin off your lips. By removing the dead skin on your lips, lip gloss and lipstick slide on better. (And so do the Current Mr Hottie's Lips ;) Its such a terrible sight to see lip stick painted on lips that are dry and chapped. Chapped lips are a sign of a lack of care. Your puckers are very important Ladies. I don't think i have to emphasize much more.

Apply some Vaseline right before you go to bed and you will wake up each morning with a ready to go, kissable pout.

Time taken : 3 mins

4. Paint on some strengthening nail polish

Who wouldn't want strong pretty nails? But the most common problem ladies seem to face is dry brittle nails. When you get a manicure or DIY paint weak nails, chances are, within the first few days, at least one nail would have broken. What is the point right?

Paint on some Strengthening Nail Polish as an undercoat or just leave it alone for some natural shine on your nails. Get one that is closest to your skin colour or just clear. This way, you need not worry about smudges.

Glossy Nails are an instant Glam Booster.

Time taken: 4 mins

5. Clean up the eyebrows

I know most of us just wait for maybe 2 weeks and then walk into our nearby saloon to get a fix on our eyebrows. But really, its just kinda funny looking to see the signs of a perfectly arched brow and then some little hairs sticking our in funny places. ;)

Use a tweezer and just pluck out the tiny hairs growing. This way, you'll be able to forgo the Saloon for a while longer while still looking polished and neat.

CAUTION: DO not go wild with the tweezers. Just pluck out the stray hairs. Do not alter the shape of your brow if you are not used to plucking your own brows. Trust me, the effect is never the same.

Mostly A’s: Los Angeles

what to wear to watch a performance

Show time.

Those two little words are enough to send shivers up my spine. I love show business. I love it with all my heart and soul.

Back to the post. I know in Malaysia especially, lots of people wonder how to dress when going to see a performance. Watching a play or a dance performance in Malaysia is (unfortinately) not a every weekend affair. So I find that Malaysians are very often lost when it comes to what to wear.

At first when i did the first draft of this post, i did my usual Do's and Don'ts post. But then after reading it, i realized that i wanted this post to be a little closer to home.

So this is what I'm going to do. In my books, there are 3 major venues I watch live performances in KL. I am not saying that these are the only 3. I am saying these are the ones i am familiar with and therefore dare to comment on. ;)

1. Istana Budaya - http://www.istanabudaya.gov.my

Our premier Arts Center for Malaysia, Istana Budaya is a sight to behold. Most of the biggest productions to visit our humble country show at Istana Budaya.

What to Wear

Istana Budaya itself is a class above everyone else. When choosing to attend an event, if the invitation says "Istana Budaya" under Venue, you follow a simple rule.

DRESS - UP!

This is a place where you could wear a flowing gown and other then a few people who will raise an eyebrow to wonder where you got the dress, you will probably fit right in. :)

Bring out the fancy dresses, pretty heels and pearls. This venue is all about Class. Also, make sure your dress is comfortable for you to sit down in as you will be sitting for at least an hour. But with Istana Budaya shows, they normally have intermissions :)

You could also opt to wear something more traditional with this venue. To have a more cultural experience. I love wearing a fancy Kebaya or a beautiful saree to these shows. It doesn't matter what show you're seeing. Traditional outfits are universally accepted at fancy events.

Caution:

a. Istana Budaya tends to a bit chilly at times so have either a shawl or a boyfriend handy ;)
b. This venue is a little more conservative to please dress Conservative. Don't bring out the dress with the highest slit , the lowest plunge or the shortest hemline.

2. KLCC Convention Center - http://www.klccconventioncentre.com/index_flash.html

This venue is a little more business-like compared to Istana Budaya. Connected to our Pride and Joy, the Twin Towers, KLCC Convention Center hosts mostly conferences and trade shows. However, they also sometimes play host to orchestra performances, musicals, etc.

What to Wear

With KLCC, the dress code is still quite formal but I would recommend adding a business twist to it. Because its in the City Center, expect a lot of walking from your carpark, to KLCC itself. The venue is massive and it will require you to have some sort of directional skills as it is pretty easy to get a little flustered looking for your Hall.

Try knee length dresses, pant suits and pretty skirts. Shoes should be comfy. And after the show, your friends are most likely to want to get a drink (you are in KLCC after all!!) so make sure you wear something that can take you from Show mode to Night-out mode easily.

Caution:
a) Long walk from your car to your Hall. Wear good shoes.
b) Wear something formal and easy to blend in for a night out on town. Just in case.

3. KL PAC - http://www.klpac.org/

KL PAC's dress code is : WE DO NOT DISCRIMINATE. :)

Wear anything as long as its comfy. But please lahhhh. Just coz they are so laid back please don't come in your pajamas. With KL Pac, i would recommend Laid-Back and Chic.

Bring out the floral dresses, nice skirts and even jeans with pretty tops. Flats are absolutely fine in KL PAC. The atmosphere here is friendly and laid back.

Caution:
KL PAC has stages where you will need to climb the stairs to the seats. Beware of flashing your underwear if you are wearing a short skirt. :)

I am feeling incredibly flattered and loved at the moment. After reading the words of encouragement and the rage of people i know, and people i don't know, to response to the earlier post by Jerine Lay, I must say, I’m pretty impressed Foxydy has received so much attention.

Honestly, i didn't think so many people read Foxydy. It’s really surprising to me. And the fact that some of you took the time to comment, post and email about it makes me feel truly blessed.

Thanks guys. ;)

Her post made me think. I know it was supposed to make me angry, or hurt me. I guess that was the intention of it. But the truth of it is. It really just made me think.

It made me think about all the rules people make and impose on their lives. In order to conform to something they imagine being right, or rather, desirable. I cannot imagine having to force myself to put on make-up before anyone sees me. Neither can I imagine having to put on my highest heels just to have the world at my feet.

How in the world does one girl differ from another so vastly? And why in the world, would someone not conforming to the same rules she has imposed on herself, enable such emotion that would drive her to write about it so nastily?

What was interesting about Jerine’s post, was the fact that she truly believes in what she is saying. She believes in all she said in her post. She believes.

See this is what IRKs (my new favourite word!) me about the Fashion industry. Women are so bombarded with the media forever telling us what is right and what is wrong that we start to take these little messages we hear and make them into rules.

“You have to wear heels to be sexy”

“You have to wear a Brand Name”

“Your dress must be better than your friend’s”

“You have to hate the girl that has the same dress as you”

And we impose these rules upon ourselves. Rules made in the field of Fashion, where the Brand Powerhouses are God, and their rules are the Commandments.

So my question is simple. Why?

Why would you make what these Powerhouses say is Right, into rules you live your life by? Remember, this is the industry that is more fickle than a paperdoll being kicked in the wind.

I think it just makes life way more stressful. Like I said before, Fashion to me, is what I make of it. No rules. Just what I feel like at that moment.

THE BLOG THAT TELLS YOU IT'S ALRIGHT TO BE UGLY

I stumbled on this blog. It's one of those boring blog that no one bother to read, so I decided it's good to do some charity here to promote it.

The writer focus on giving advice to girls, like you and me, on various woman's issues. That blog irks me a lot. Let me give you some lines from that blog:

1. A dress is just a dress ladies.

Kamon! A dress is NOT just a dress. Kate Middleton wouldn't be bothered to pick up that gown and walk down the aisle, if a dress is really JUST a dress. She could have just buy something from H&M and wear it on her wedding day. Christian Lacroix wouldn't put up his business for billion dollars of investment, if a dress is really JUST a dress. You get what I mean? If a dress is just a dress, ladies... I dare you to wear an haute couture to the pasar malam this weekend. Will you do it? Obviously... NO!

Whatever that you're wearing reflects who you are. It is a form of communication between you and persons you are going to meet. What you wear will tell the other people of your characters. You don't just pick up your dress, whatever it is, and off you go for a job interview. If you do, then it shows how not serious you are in getting the job. If that is the case, then why bother to go for a job interview anyway?

Let me quote this from Miranda Priestly...

“Oh. Okay. I see. You think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your
closet and you select… that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, and claim that it
only cost RM25 because you’re trying to tell the world that you take yourself
too seriously to care about what you put on your back.

2. It's ok for people to see you without makeup

Girls... listen to me. It's NOT ok. Period.

But it's ok if someone sees you without makeup by accident. For example, you're having a shower and your boyfriend ambushed into the bathroom for some quality time. That's ok. That's fine. For God's sake, repair that look of yours if you need to before leaving the house.

This time, I'm going to quote Coco Chanel...

"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself
up a little, if only out of politeness.

And then you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny.

And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny."

3. It's ok not to get a wax sometimes.

Geez! Are you like a fan of gorilla or what? You're a girl! You don't need hair in some place unnecessary. Get wax, shave, epilator, or whatever it is... The last thing you want is your pubic hair to be seen by other people in the bathroom. *roll eyes* Serious???

4. It's ok to thrown on your comfy/fugly sweatpants/top/etc.

Question: Why would you buy a fugly sweatpants or top in the first place? Are you filthy rich that you're bored with pretty stuff and decided you should splurge on fugly clothes? It doesn't make sense to me. I rather go naked that be seen in ugly clothes. I totally don't understand her. She totally declares her passion on fashion and then to tell people to wear ugly clothes. Don't you think it is so contradictory?

Sasha Ratnam... I think you should stop acting like all guru and advise on fashion and beauty on your blog. You're not qualified. Who are you to tell the girls out there that it is ok to look ugly, it is ok not to care about how you look. That is not words of encouragement to people who reads your blog. But I guess one girl in this world who would take Sasha Ratnam's advice... Kimberly tak Cun. She looks that sloppy anyway.

Girls, you should look the best at all times so that you feel that confidence from within yourself. Stop taking advice from that sloppy girl. You deserve more than what she's telling you. Go put on your prettiest high heels (though they hurt a little) and the world is at your feet!

Now, I'm the one who look like a bitch for telling you what's right and wrong.

But then i saw a picture of a Superhero on my friends FB wall and i was reminded of my Addiction for Marvel. I LOVE MARVEL comics. Not to mention they have some very very awesome superheros (Ironman, Wolverine, Thor, drooollllll....)

So this is my list of some of the most Fashionable Superheros i've enjoyed watching at as a Kid :)

1. Wonder Women - DC Comics, first appears in All-Star Comics #8

This one is a given. Who else can pull of a patriotic leotard, powerful metal cuffs and tiara all while lassoing a whip and managing to not have a hair out of place. I absolutely love how strong and sexy she is.

2. Storm - Marvel, first appears in Giant-Size X-Men #1

In some variations Storm wears all white, a two piece and even all black leather. But her signature that no artist can change is her long white locks. Forget Anderson Cooper, Storm is the original silver fox. Controlling the weather at a whim (we really need her during this heatwave) she wears her gray hair with pride. Not to mention, extra points, as Halle Berry is a DE-LICIOUS Storm.

3. The Joker - DC Comics, first appearance Batman #1.

This joker had eccentric style by the case load (not to mention mental issues). What man do you know can pull off white Kabuki makeup and red lips? All while being pathologically crazy and rocking a purple overcoat.

Well, maybe this man.

he should be a superhero too. sorry. i digress.

4. Sailor Moon - TokyoPop, first appeared in Sailormoon #1.

She is the one named Sailor Moon. How can you have a style list and not include Sailor Moon. Schoolgirl uniforms that transformed into tart skirts, long blonde pigtails and red go-go boots. I am convinced she was the start of the Harajuku, K-Pop etc Revolution!!

5. Catwoman - DC Comics, first appeared in Batman #1

Black leather, cat ears, tall black boots and I’m talking the original felines (not Ms. Berry, Ms. Berry. I still cant get over how bad that film was. But Kudos to Berry for being awesome as usual. It earned Oscar-winner Berry a "razzie" award for Worst Actress. She accepted the "award" in person and publicly apologized for how bad the film was. How classy).

Way before fitted black leather was fashion’s staple, Catwoman was the original fierce superhero and she still is.

6. Ironman - Marvel, first appeared in Tale of Suspense #39

Tony, tony,tony. Marry me. Those would be my first words to Tony Stark if i ever met him. Before i pass out. I love this character's wardrobe. Clean pressed suits and simple ties. This is the man with a fashion sense that seems to be the past, present and the future all at once.

So there you have it folks. My most fashionable superheros :) Saving the world and managing to look Kick ass while doing it (No pun intended).

Airlines flaunted their stewardesses like bikini models, bringing sex appeal into the air in a way that would change airline travel forever. Well, until the 2000's, anyway, when some airlines (*cough* Delta *cough*) started hiring average-looking people (and men) to vend microwave meals along their aisles. American flight attendants have lost the allure they once possessed.

In Korea, however, where discrimination based on appearance is smiled upon, the attraction is still alive and well. Young Korean girls dream of growing tall enough and pretty enough to fly the skies with Korean Air. Their beauty, grace, and impeccable grooming is internationally renowned, as it is for many Asian carriers.

Several universities in Korea actually offer a "flight attendant" major, where (girl only!) students can practice their manners, dress and geography skills to perfection.

At Uiduk university, the freshmen are required to stand by the front entrance at times, in their standard student uniforms, to greet every car and/or pedestrian that enters the campus.

On standby with my job as an air hostess.

Bored hanging around, so sneak into town and buy a dress and a handbag to add to my collection of more than 30.

I'd blow my student loan in the first two weeks of term.

I haven't stopped spending since.

I can spot a statement a mile off now and shove them straight in the bin. Mum has started making me open them though.

My Mini Cooper repayment scheme bill has also come through. I got it on credit and have to pay it off at £387 a month.

It's a huge chunk out of my £1,300-a-month salary but definitely worth it for the status.

Mum and dad sit me down for a serious chat and reluctantly agree to loan me £400 to pay off some of my debts.

I've come to the conclusion I'm addicted to spending and, on my mother's advice, I go to see a private debt adviser in town.

He informs me it will take me seven years to get back in credit - and that's only if I live at home and be rigorous with my repayments.

Ironically, it costs me £387 for six weeks-worth of debt advice.

Seven years? By then, I'll be 34. I'd hoped to be married with kids by then, not living with my parents and having to account for every penny I spend.

I am also informed that as I have such a bad credit rating, I will probably never get a mortgage - not that there is much chance of me saving a deposit any time soon.

All those rounds of champagne for people I'll never see again have cost me my future.

That night, racked with guilt and worry, I can hardly sleep as I toss and turn.

I can't go cold turkey on shopping though - the thought makes me panic.

Whilst online, I go to ASOS and buy a shirt in the sale. At least it is discounted.

Slowly though, I'm accepting that to get myself out of this mess it's going to mean a decade of scrimping and saving.

eye make up for the daytime!

I was at lunch yesterday with a girlfriend and a very well dress lady walked by us. So immediately i was very curious about her. I kept looking at her (discreetly of course! I don't wanna get my butt kicked or anything ;) and while i was mesmerized with her dressing and heels, when she took off her sunnies, i was immediately put off.

She has soooo much eye make up on it looked like she stepped out of Wonderland where she was married to the Mad Hatter!! (ok thats a bit mean, but honesty is one of the principals of this blog right? )

It got me thinking. We are all so good at make up and imitating what we see on the runway, have we forgotten that certain looks are only meant for night time and a club? What really is appropriate for the day time?

Eye Make up for the Day

1. Eyebrows should be kept neat and well groomed. Ladies, these are the curtains to the windows to your soul (yes i know how corny that sounded). Get yourself to a good saloon and get your eyebrows groomed! it makes a ton of difference, You immediately look more attentive and polished.

Get a eyebrow pencil and lightly colour in your eyebrows. DO NOT GO OTT!! Your eyebrows should be just dark enough to be pleasantly noticed.

2. Eye Shadow should be kept in neutral or pastel shades. Sticking to these shades is a safe sure bet. However, do experiment with louder colors but keep the rest of the eye makeup to a minimal.

3. Eyeliner should be single clean lines. The smoky eye look should be kept for the club and a night out. Not for the day time!! There is no actual reason to pile on the liner during the day!! Your objective for th day is to look intelligent and attentive. NOT SULTRY!

4. Fake eyelashes are really, in my opinion, unnecessary during the way. However, if you insist on wearing them, make sure they are natural looking. You may want to buy the separated strands and add them to your natural lashes instead of using the whole thing.

Remember, Intelligent & Attentive , not Sexy and Sultry!

I'm one of those people who is, very often, in a place where people smoke. After all, we live in a country where almost everyone smokes. Its becoming a surprise to meet someone who doesn't!!

i come home, take my make up off, brush my teeth and then deliberate for maybe 10 whole seconds on whether to wash my hair or not because it STINKS of smoke. But honestly, after all the dancing, i usually give in to the little voice in my head which is saying "go to sleep lahhhh... we can worry about washing hair tomorrow".

So long story short, i end up waking up the next morning, with the same devilish voice in my head again, and go to work with my hair still stinking.

Cigarette smell can not only annoy you but it can also turn off the people around you. So this post is for all the ladies out there, who need a quick trick or two to remove the cigarette odor from your hair without washing it to make sure we smell as fresh as possible (so the boss doesn't know how hard you partied last night).

How to Get Cigarette Smoke Out of Dry Hair

1. Lemon juice

Rub a little lemon juice throughout your hair and scalp. Although washing your hair is the most effective way to get cigarette odor out, you may not have the time to get your hair wet. Get Ready Fast – 7 Quick and Easy Hairstyles

So as you guys already know, i am recently single. :( so i went on a date recently with a friend of a friend. And while that date went well, (he was quite the gentlemen), my biggest worry was, while i was rushing home from office, what the heck to wear!!

I mean think about it. When you are actually Planning to meet someone for the very first time what you wear suddenly becomes a simple representation of the things that make you, you. If you just bumped into someone, say in a coffee shop, even if you look horrible, you make yourself feel better by saying there was no way you could have known that you would be bumping into Mr-Delicious-Americano-Coffee.

So what was a girl to do!! After racking my brains for a good 30mins about it while being stuck in a jam, i decided i post on this. To make the next few times a little easier. ;)

A Dress or Not a Dress? That Is the Question

Why the heck not? The real question is choosing what kind of dress you want to wear on your date. My advice is to dress appropriately for the type of venue you will be going to. If you are heading to a snazzy bar, then pull out the LBD (a sure bet).

If you are headed to a restaurant, you can pull off a pretty dress or even some chic jeans and a pretty top! Just make sure you know what type of place you're headed to! Dont dress in jeans to a place everyone is wearing a dress.. However, the safest way to wear jeans, if you must, is to go with a dark wash.

The type of dress you wear can also send some signals to your date. A floral print might say, “I’m a lady and expect to be treated as such;” you’ll make a different impression entirely if your idea of a dress is a black studded mini paired with motorcycle boots.

Shoes?

I prefer a practical approach to this quandary. Will you be walking much? Most dresses go hand in hand with heels or fancy flats, so a walk along the boardwalk may lead to a graceless blister-limp back to the car. An alternative is a maxi dress, which is the natural mate to a stroll-friendly pair of thong sandals.

For a woman with bigger hips and bum, finding a skirt, top or jacket that fits her frame can be a challenge. Many of these curvaceous women have pear shapes, which means they have narrow shoulders and larger hips.

A pear shaped figure is not something you should complain about; instead you should embrace your awesome curves and celebrate them with the right clothes.

Wear dresses that are tighter on the top and flow out toward the mid-section, such as an empire-waisted dress. Stay away from dresses that are made from clingy material, such as polyester and dresses that contain embellishments around the hip area. Embellishments, if any, should be focused around the neckline, sleeves or the empire waistline to distract the attention away from your hips. Take a cue from a golden girl.

Avoid wearing any top or bottom with horizontal stripes. These accentuate the width of a woman's hips, making them appear larger than they really are. Check out this picture below. Need i say more?

Choose a pair of pants that have wide legs, hang just below the belly button and are a dark color, . All of these will accentuate a woman's curves without making the hips appear too large. Stick with jeans that are a darker wash as well. The dark coloring will help create the illusion of slimmer hips.

When wearing darker colors, you can experiment with cuts as the color itself will camouflage heavy hips.

With pants, its all about the balance. If you are wearing a lighter colored pant, make sure the cut allows your hips to look proportionate to the rest of your legs.
Avoid pants that have a lot of details or ornaments at the back as this will highlight your big hips and you will be having opposite effect of what you desire to achieve.

Choose blouses, tops and jackets that have embellishments and bold patterns. These will draw the eyes upwards toward the top half of the body. Looser flowy tops in light weight materials will do justice as well as they will help create an illusion of proportion between your upper body and your hips.

When it comes to tops, Length is everything. You want to pick out a top that hugs your figure but hits you right in the middle of your bum or lower ONLY. Do not pick mid riff tops or shorter tops. These will only emphasize your bigger hips.

Layering works as well. A loosely wrapped cardigan or jacket that hits just below the bum or longer will help hide your problem area. However, make sure the more flowy ones are belted at the waist to give avoid looking bigger than you really are!!

Again as with dresses, when choosing a trench, make sure the tightest part is your upperbody and it has lines that fall to flatter your figure.

Avoid wearing clothing that is too large. Many women believe that baggy clothing will hide larger hips. In actuality, baggy clothing makes hips look larger than their actual size. Wear well fitted clothes. But please remember, tight does not mean skanky. It means well fitted. Pick classy tight pieces that hug your figure and accentuate your curves. Not make them IN-YOUR-FACE.

Wear accessories, such as a scarf, earrings or a bracelet. These will draw attention towards those areas of the body and away from the hip region. But remember, if you are choosing belts, only choose belts that sit on your waist, the smallest part of it and make sure the lines after that flare out. You Do no want a hipster belt. It will only draw most attention to wider hips.

I've always been very intrigued about the social situation that is created when you see another girl walk into the room wearing the same dress u have on. Movies & Sitcoms have made us believe that above all, this is, the worst thing that could happen in your life.

Pffttt. Puh-Lease.

I Googled "What to do when someone else is wearing the same dress as you" and this is one of the posts i found. Now this really irritated me. As much as i try very hard not to judge, sometimes, in situations like this, people leave me no choice.

If you think about it, without all the rules and regulations of fashion created by the media that has successfully been implemented in our lives without realization, (dare i say it?) A dress is JUST A DRESS ladies.

*I think i just heard a million people scoff and close this window*

:) Think about it. A dress is supposed to make you feel good about yourself. Its supposed to hug the right places, show the right amount of skin and be in the color that suits you best. Its supposed to help you feel Good about yourself. The same garment, SHOULD NOT BE POWERFUL ENOUGH TO DEPRESS YOU. For gods sake, if it had that kind of power, we should swap our Religious Leaders for our Fashion Designers.

So here are some tips on what you should be doing if a girl walks into the room wearing the dress u have on.

1) Point it out to your girlfriends

Yes. Point out the girl with the dress on to your girlfriends and smile about it. Make sure they know that you're okay with it and they will, if they are worthy friends, quickly reassure you how much more amazing you look in it. If you just pretend to not notice, this will quickly become an awkward situation.

2) At some point, catch the Girls eye and smile dazzlingly.

Trust me, she probably already noticed you and done No 1 with her friends. Now, you're at the crucial stage where you could both either have a good time, or have some hostile negativity about wearing the same thing on. By smiling at her, you're showing her that you noticed her but you just wanna make the best of this situation.

3) Go introduce yourself.

Think of it this way, if someone else is wearing the same dress as you are, she has the same amazing taste in fashion as you do. You definitely have to get to know her right? Go introduce yourself and pass her a compliment on her taste and style.

4) Now use the situation to your advantage!!

People love confident people. By taking charge of the situation positively, you have instantly become way more attractive to everyone (ahem, the hot men). Use the same dress situation to meet new people (her friends) or to start off conversations.

5) Finally, make sure you take some awesome pictures !! :)

So remember ladies, no matter how many people or who is wearing the same dress as you in the room, you can make the best of it!!

Long locks make waves while short hair is less sexy, say men

Men find long, wavy locks the sexiest hair style on a woman, according to a new poll. The feminine look, sported by X-Factor judge Cheryl Cole and TV presenter Kelly Brook came top with a staggering 43 per cent of men voting it their sexiest hairdo.

.Jennifer Aniston's long straight do came second in a poll of the sexiest haircuts, while Rihanna's classic bob was deemed the third sexiext haircut by men.

Straight mid-length styles, similar to Gwyneth Paltrow came fourth while the pixie crop, famously sported by Victoria Beckham finished the top five.

Long hair is traditionally strongly linked to femininity which we're sure is the reason that almost half of men have singled out this long, thick, wavy hair as their number one sexiest style. Despite men choosing long, natural looking wavy hair as their top style, most women would have to create this style using styling tools as not many are naturally blessed with these lovely locks.

Funnily enough, Men prefer Gwyneth Paltrow's mid-length straight style to Victoria Beckham's pixie crop, but they prefer Posh's crop to Katie Holmes's bowl haircut.

It's interesting to see that men still favour the traditional stereotypical looks for women, with long hair coming out on top despite the massive popularity of shorter styles like the Pob (as Victoria Beckham's bob came to be known, an amalgamation of Posh and bob) and Agyness Deyn style crops with women.

Surprisingly though, men claim to prefer the natural look when it comes to styling, with more than a third saying they hate it when women have perfectly groomed hair.

Men also appeared to have a strong preference for shiny hair - with 72% billing it as sexy over hair without gloss.

Karen Moore added: "While men strongly favour the soft, natural, touchable styles over smarter, groomed looks, little do they know that these long luscious curls and straight sleek styles are often the ones which take the most effort to achieve.

Girls should also take note when styling their do, not to overdo the styling products as 79 per cent of guys admitted to loving running their fingers through ladies' locks.

This could explain why half of guys also said they like girls who wear their hair down rather than in a smart up-do.

The poll also discovered that 80 per cent of blokes reckon you can tell a lot about a girl from her hair style, but 18 per cent admitted they rarely notice if a girl changes her locks.

And a quarter would never be brave enough to give an honest opinion of a new hairstyle.

Don't be a Fashion Control Freak!

What is a Control Freak?

control freak is a derogatory term for a person who attempts to dictate how everything around them is done

So a fashion control freak?

A Foxydy term for a person who has to constantly dictate what they wear to ensure people see them in a certain way.

When i watch fashion TV shows and movies, i find that the media constantly portrays women as having to look perfect all the time. How stressful.

What is it about the fashion world that makes women constantly believe that what they wear is the most important thing? I have friends who are such fashion control freaks, they don't allow people to see them unless they are dressed perfectly up to their standards. So basically, goodbye spontaneity.

It doesnt matter what you wear. It isnt the most important thing at all. Its who you are and who you want to be. So quit worrying!! Dont be a control freak!!

Below are things that i have told myself in the past not to worry about!

1. its okay for people to see you without make up

Ladies, we weren't born with make up (no matter how heavenly that mascara makes your eyes look). And everyone knows that you weren't. There really isn't any point in trying to always having make up on before meeting people. Its just un-necessary.

Feeling comfortable in your own skin is the greatest beauty.

2. its okay not to get a wax sometimes

Don't constantly fret about the hair on your body. Truth be told, most people don't even notice these things as much as you think they do.

Of course, if you do have excessive body hair, then get it removed. But only if you want to. Don't let people pressure you into these things. Trust me, hair removal is a painful process. So if you don't want to do it, but are getting that wax to please someone else, don't do it.

3. its okay not to wear heels

Contrary to popular belief, you DO NOT have to live in heels to be fashionable. I think i have preached enough on this topic.

4. its okay to thrown on your comfy/fugly sweatpants/top/etc, etc

I have teddy bear pajamas. No kidding. Ive had them for the longest time. During the time when i was living with the ex, i always wanted to go to sleep wearing something that at least look stylish. that was me being a fashion control freak.

But then i realized, i really missed my teddy bear pajamas, and one day, i just wore them to bed. After a whole lot of laughing and telling me how cute i was, i finally got over the fear that, if i wore something as horrendous as my pajamas, he would instantly be repulsed by me. Honestly, i think he loved me more for it. ;)

5. its okay to wear the same thing twice, with the same people

When i stand in front of my closet, i sometimes fret about what these bunch of friends have seen me in before. I wont lie.Friends do remember what you have worn. Especially if they are girlfriends. But the important thing to remember is, they don't judge you for it. True friends don't care if you're wearing the same thing everyday! They only make a note of it. And after seeing you wearing the same thing 5 times in a row, they may suggest a shopping trip ;)

So take it from a recovering fashion control freak ladies, life is much better when you just let it be.
